User Stories and Comments

The following are comments left about Harrington & Richardson from site visitors such as yourself. They are not spell checked or reviewed for accuracy.

This is the Harrington and Richardson building. A gun making factory. They used to test the machine guns there while I was playing baseball at Beaver Brook park. You could hear them firing. Around 1969.

This was a fine building. I was told once that during WW2 there were searchligts on the roof. It was being razed for a Burger King that never hapenned. It was even getting a second chance as the bottom floor was renovated for hip clothing store etc. In the picture above there is/was a Mister Donut to the left that would be closed for renovation constantly yet it never changed... Behind the white pick up was a pancake place (Holiday pancakes?) that my family went to after Church in the 70's. The back lot had a tiny Al-Bums for a few years too. I now own a few rifles and pistols that were made there including a stunning 45.70 rifle.

I brought some captured pistols home from the war in Germany 1945. I brought them to Harrington and Richarson to test fire them. One was a Polish 9mm.Walthum. quite similar to the US .45 pistol. Many of our M-1 Garand rifles were made at H & R. for use in WW-2.

I have recently been given a H&R, 4" barrel length, .38 S&W CTGE thats located on the left side, serial #71059, 5 shot. I would like to know the history of these pistols and if the police or army used them for their services. Can modern ammo be used in this pistol? Why is it Hammerless? FYI on this pistol. This is my Great Grandfathers service pistol while he was a security guard in Canada. He passed away and left the pistol to my grandfather, and he used it on his farm to uthanize animals and scare away predators. My fahther and uncle used it for target shooting. It is the only possession left of my Great Grandfather.
